Learning JavaScript with Charles G. Hollins is a CD-ROM based workshop for HTML developers who wish to move from static to interactive Web development. Although JavaScript is primarily used to execute programming logic within the Web browser, the language has now become the industry standard for client-side programming. Thus, developers can apply their skills to Macromedia? Flash?, Adobe? Acrobat? and a variety of applications which support the JavaScript language.

The first part of this CD-ROM covers core JavaScript programming fundamentals such as literals, variables, expressions, operators, statements, functions and objects. In the second part of the workshop, you will learn how to use JavaScript’s powerful objects to create pop-up windows, image rollovers and intelligent forms and frames; and perform event handling, browser detection, and client-side data storage and retrieval using cookies. Using these concepts and programming techniques, you will progressively enhance a static Web site that we have conveniently provided for you on the CD, and incorporate these features into the project. The workshop concludes with coverage of publications, sites, tools and resources that will enable you to develop faster and more effciently while enhancing quality and stability.
